Glorify
To Glorify God
Ultimately all that we do as a church is to bring glory to God.
(Romans 15:5-9; 1 Corinthians 10:31,32; Ephesians 3:20-21; Philippians 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:17)
The glory of God is our highest motivation. We are His people and have been made alive in Christ to fulfil the ultimate purpose for which we were created, to glorify God, our Creator.
Worshipping God both individually and collectively;
(Luke 4:8; Ephesians 5:19-21; Acts 2:42)
Reading and studying God's Word, the Bible;
(1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 2:15)
Spending time in prayerful communion with God;
(Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6; 1 Timothy 2:1-8)
Living lives of holiness by God's grace in obedience to Him.
(Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15,16)
Build
To Build Authentic Christian Community
God's church is all about people. People within His church are important to Him and we are to treat each other as His precious and treasured possessions.
(Ephesians 4:16; Titus 2:13,14; 1 Peter 2:9,10)
Everything we do, either as a church or as individual members of GBC, should contribute to building authentic Christian community.
(1 Corinthians 3:12,13; Ephesians 4:16,31,32 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Loving and forgiving one another
(John 13:34,35; 1 Corinthians 13; Ephesians 4:31,32)
Caring for and sharing with one another
(Acts 2:44; Romans 12:13; 1 Corinthians 12:25,26; 1 John 3:17,18)
Praying for and encouraging one another
(Hebrews 10:25; James 5:16)
Communicate
To Communicate the Lord Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus gave specific instructions to his apostles: "Go and make disciples of all nations
(Matthew 28:19,20)
This also, has to be GBC's mandate as it seeks to spread the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The heart of God is mission, and this must be the heartbeat of GBC. We communicate this message of salvation and eternal life, which is available to all through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ
(Matthew 28:19,20)
Acting with compassion
(Mark 8:2)
Personal and collective witness
(Acts 1:8)
Local and global mission outreach
(Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14-17)
Our Elders
We Teach
that the Bible is God’s written revelation to humankind, that it is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, sufficient, complete, and authoritative Word of God.
We Teach
that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons— Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each equally worthy of worship and obedience.
We Teach
the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
We Teach
that humankind was created by God in His image and likeness, but that in Adam’s sin the whole human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, became alienated from God, subject to His wrath, and unable to save themselves from their fallen condition.
We Teach
that salvation is wholly of God by grace based on the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, not on any human merit or works. It is accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God when the repentant sinner responds to the gospel in faith.
We Teach
that the Holy Spirit is the supernatural and sovereign Agent in regeneration, and that from the moment of conversion He indwells the believer, enables them to live a Godly life, and seals them for the future day of redemption.
We Teach
that all who put their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the church, of which Christ is the Head, and that the purpose of the church is to glorify God by building believers up in the faith and by communicating and advancing the gospel to the entire world.
We Teach
the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved—the saved to eternal life with Christ and the unsaved to eternal punishment.
At present the elders of Greerton Bible Church are expanding our statement of faith.
It will be found here when completed.
